Camping Coloring Pages
Camping is one of those things that instantly takes people back to the good, ol’ simpler times. Be it sitting near the campfire, serenading music under the stars, eating gooey S’mores off a stick, or crawling into a sleeping bag after an adventurous day outdoors, camping has got this slow and comforting feel to it, which all of us, be it kids or adults, crave at a certain time. But due to time restraints and work commitments, it isn’t always possible to fulfil every wish our heart desires. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get the feel of camping at all. This collection of camping coloring pages will bring all those cozy vibes right to your desk.

Fun And Creative Ways To Use Camping Coloring Pages
And just like I always do, I didn’t stop at coloring pages. I’ve added a bunch of easy craft ideas and activities that go well with these printables. Nothing too fancy, just simple, creative stuff to keep the fun going even after the coloring is done.
Pop-Up Campsite Diorama
If you want to turn your coloring page into a tiny little 3D campsite, here’s how to do it. Once you have colored the page, cut out the important parts such as tents, trees, campfire, RV, and more. Using the shoebox lid as the base, make some grass using green paper and dirt using brown paper. Now fold cardstock paper into accordion strips and stick behind the cut-outs to make them stand up. If you wish to take your diorama to another level, add some tiny sticks for logs and pebbles for the path. Kids can even narrate a story about the campsite once the diorama is done.
Campfire Sun Catcher
Here’s another simple craft that looks pretty cool on a window. Cut out some rectangular pieces from a clear plastic and outline a simple campfire shape using a black paper or tape. Then rip apart some tissue paper in the shades of orange, red, and yellow for the fire and green or blue for the background. Stick the pieces inside the black lines and leave them out to dry. When the sun comes through, it will glow like a real fire.
Leaf Rubbing Forest Map
Next time you are on a stroll, collect leaves of different shapes and sizes. Now put the leaf on a white paper and rub over it with a green crayon. You will see the original texture of the leaf showing up on the paper. You would have to do it a couple of times to get the texture properly on paper. Once you have colored all the leaves, turn them into a campground map. If you want, you can even draw symbols like trails, fire pits, tents, signs, and more. This map would make a great addition to your scavenger hunt as well.
Camping Bookmarks
Cut the cardstock into bookmark-sized strips and stick small cut-outs from the finished coloring page on it. You can use cut-outs of tents, campfires, pine trees and camping van, and more. Punch a hole on top and tie a ribbon through it. Your bookmark is ready
Campfire Story Stones
Collect some smooth pebbles or stones from the backyard and draw little camping elements on them, like a sleeping bag, a tent, a Smore, a moon, just about anything that you can, and leave them out to dry. Now, take out these stones one at a time and narrate a story revolving around the object. The next person has to continue the story for one whole minute. The ending will leave everyone rolling on the floor, laughing.
Nature Scrapbook
If you’re fond of collecting flowers, leaves, and other natural elements, how about making a journal of it? Take a blank notebook or journal and glue the leaves, flowers, and petals you collect from outside. To sneak in some lessons, write a few facts about the items collected. And decorate the cover of the scrapbook or journal with cut-out bits from the coloring pages.
Flashlight Puppet Show
Flashlight puppet shows can never get old. Cut out camping-themed elements from the coloring pages and tape them to straws or wooden sticks. You can either use a white sheet or shine the flashlight at the wall, turn off the lights, and use the puppets to narrate a story.
Camping Bingo
This is one of our favorite activities as it combines both indoor and outdoor fun. Create some bingo cards with camping elements like raccoon, lantern, sleeping bag, tent, campfire etc., using the coloring pages. Now, an adult has to take the kids out for a short walk, your backyard will also do. Whoever finds the item in real has to place a sticker or token on the square. Hand out small prizes to the winners.
Story Quilt – Camping Style
This one’s a great craft that also doubles as a story prompt. Each participant has to color their own camping scene on a paper square, each being different from the other. Once everyone has colored, glue them to form a bigger sheet, which will become your camp quilt. Now hang the artwork on the wall and have each participant explain their part of the quilt.
Camp Badge Lanyards
This is another excellent craft that will even give the kids something to wear after completing their camping activities. Cut out small shapes like stars, tents, and circles from the coloring pages. These will be your badges. Now, color and decorate each one based on the task you did. Punch a hole on top of the badges and thread a yarn or ribbon through them to make a wearable lanyard. As you complete more crafts, more badges will be added to your string.
This collection of camping coloring pages works great for camping-themed parties, classroom projects, and a quiet rainy afternoon at home. Feel free to print out as many as you like and keep a handful for road trips as well.
And once the pages are all colored, stretch the theme a bit longer by doing crafts and activities. From telling flashlight stories to making sun catchers, there’s plenty to do with these printables. So grab your coloring supplies and get started!
